Baseball season begins

Pitchers and catchers report to spring training!  Although the season has not started yet, the team has been preparing since last season ended. Knoxville Catholic High School’s baseball team is coached by Caleb Moore.

The team has been conditioning and training together all year.

“As soon as the first season ends you start the next one,” Cole Ferraro, senior baseball player, said.

The players practice Monday through Thursday each week from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. During these practices they work on speed, agility, strength training, pitching, catching, fielding and lots of hitting.

According to Ferraro, Taylor Griffey, and Sean Kearney, seniors baseball players for Knoxville Catholic High School, conditioning is the hardest. Players run 300 yard sprints, flip tires across the field or run a mile all while being timed and racing and competing against each other.

When asked who their toughest competitor this season would be the coaches and players unanimously agreed on Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK).

Coach Moore agrees that  Christian academy of Knoxville will be the team’s toughest competitor and shares that “conditioning is tough but definitely necessary.”

Griffey said “these guys are not just my teammates, they are my brothers” and Hayes,  a junior baseball player, said “we have formed a brotherhood.

Good luck to Coach Moore and the 2017 Knoxville Catholic Baseball Team. Come out to the ballpark and support the team in their first non-conference game vs. Elizabethton on Saturday, February 18. Go Irish!
