New Approach to College Fair

Guidance Department prepares students for college search

Madison Webber, Staff Writer

KNOXVILLE-The Guidance Department is taking a new approach to College Fair on Oct. 2 during E Block this year by personalizing barcodes for each student. The barcode system is designed to make contact between students and colleges easier. In the past, students have had to write down contact information at each table, however, this year the representative from the college will scan the barcode, which will give them access to the student’s contact information.

“The schools that have a booth at the fair are interested in students that attend Catholic due to our high scores academically and high college attendance rate,” guidance counselor Chris Morgan said.

Morgan suggests that students prepare three to five questions to ask the representative and to visit at least four colleges at the fair. Students should enter College Fair with an open mind and serious approach to maximize the short amount of time allotted for the fair.

According to Morgan, a reason Knoxville Catholic hosts college fair is to expose students to different colleges, especially those who do not have the opportunity to travel for college tours.

“I have always found College Fair to be very informative and helpful with my college decision,” Junior Garrett Lewis said. The Guidance Department encourages students to take advantage of the opportunity and use the time wisely to maximize knowledge about colleges that can help you prosper as an individual.
