Volleyball Prepares for State Championship

Katie Holt, Staff Writer

The Lady Irish Volleyball Team is gearing up for a state championship. Last year the team was a state runner up, and this year the team plans to change that.

According to Senior Olivia Cunningham, the team is ready to overcome anything to get to state.

“Our biggest obstacle doesn’t have to do with our physical abilities. It’s about our mindset, our focus, and our grit,” Cunningham said. “We spend practice time discussing ways to overcome frustration in a game and how to keep our minds clear.”

Sophomore Lauren Robson added, “We’ve really meshed as a team and got our rhythm down which will help us to get to state.  Because we’ve bonded so much, we trust each other to have our backs when we need it. “

The team hopes to earn another state championship in the fall.
